SYTYCD Joint

This is the first SYTYCD that i regretfully skipped, because it turns out that it wasn't a complicated assignment all we had to do was draw a joint in black and white. Overall I thought because of it's simplicity and composition that it turned out very well.

Material Sketchbook Assignment

This is a quick rendering of the hardwood flooring that I have chosen for William McDonough's kitchen, which is our current studio project. This is the back side of the page in my sketchbook because I thought that it communicated the material in a more realistic way.

SYTYCD Detail

This sketch is essentially what Mr. McDonough's kitchen will look like. And in this assignment I decided to show the custom cantilever couch, which will provide the family with a nice resting place to discus how their day was. Also you will see the bar which doubles as a prep station and a quick snack area. I decided to use a triple sash window that also acts as a portal for better air circulation. This space will have no problem with lighting issues as it takes advantage of the natural light throughout the day, and soaks up the majestic sunset.

Case study Perspective

This is my perspective of the Enteza House Case study #9  and I think it turned out very well considering that I spent a lot of time setting up my perspective. I'm not going to lie the color was sort of hard to tackle  but it's a work in progress for me. I'm just proud that the perspective turned out so well.

William McDonough's Kitchen draft 1

This is my first stab at designing Mr. McDonough's kitchen so I did not plan on figuring out on my very first attempt. I think that he would not appreciate the amount of space that I am utilizing or in his words "WASTING!!!" So a new design is well on it's way towards completion.

SYTYCD 6: Perspective Throwback

For this assignment I studied what an actual victorian studio would have looked like and as you can imagine in this time period it was quite common for rooms to be very cluttered. I also tried to make the space have the same materials that one would see in an actual victorian interior. One regret that I have is that I didn't render the space and that may come soon in the near future.

Axon

This was my first stab at creating an axon view of the Case study #9 house, I thought that for my first axon of a space or house that it turned out very well. The only problems that I had were trying to communicate the many different but unique level changes.

SYTYCD Scale Figures

With it being October and our assignment dealing with scale figures, I thought that I would chose something quite obvious, Baseball. I Placed the scale figures in the marvelous landscape and in one I let the stadium and distance give a sense of scale. The only problem with this was that I found the stadium much harder to draw than i had anticipated. In the first one I let the home plate umpire show a sense of scale relative to the figures on the ground, this picture was derived from a black and white photo of "Babe" Ruth diving headfirst into home safely. In the last lonely photo I was going to add more people but i spent quite a while on the main figure and I felt that a sloppy composition of an entourage would poorly reflect on my hard work. I will most likely revisit this drawing.

Section

I find this house to be very complicated to get a full picture of, the only reason being that there are many level and material changes. There was another level change but it takes place before the section cut, so I put too much thought in it at first and then I realized that the level change was before the cut so obviously it was left out.

Floor Plan

This floor plan exemplifies that I can do anything with enough time. I spent well over fifteen hours on this assignment. Thus being because I measured out everything then transferred the measurements into 1/4  scale. After doing so I then did a standard copy on bond paper then did a vellum overlay. While doing this I was being very careful and aware of line weights and the neatness of my work.

SYTYCD Castle

Time to use our imaginations and draw castles. I think on this assignment I did not strictly use my imagination, probably very little at all. I was being more realistic and illustrated a castle on the side of a mountain which was supposed to be overlooking a town, but i had trouble drawing the town nor could i think of a color that would match up realistically with the composition.

Work on some different techniques for my final rendering. I felt I focused a little too much on line wait more than the coloring of the perspectives.
