Precedent Analysis

Precedent Analysis

For my precedent analysis project I chose to do the Citicorp Center building located at 601 Lexington Avenue in New York. Hugh Stubbins and Associates erected the structure in 1978. It caught my eye as a revolutionary structure for it’s location. And I think that a major design element of the building would be not only the large stilts that hold the structure, but also the wonderful plaza that sort of leads the eye into the beautiful structure. It was a very daring design to elevate the building on stilts at that point in time, which makes it very revolutionary. I believe that the building was well designed and modernized the architecture in its environment.
