This picture of the freeway is sort of anti-stewardship as well as stewardship. It divinely cuts through the land allowing space for nature to grow. It also keeps the cars on a direct path keeping them from driving through nature. But too me it seems that it is a step in the wrong direction, I see a massive amount of fossil fuels being burned in creating this transportation road and used on it daily by the users. The natural areas are man made and not authentic, it supports a community, and it is an innovation. However stewardship is a value it does not possess

Visual Explorer
The penguins charging into the water as a whole reminds me of community because this act plays a crucial role in their survival. Doing this task as a group warns off predators in their environment it also shows respect for one another.
This famous shot of Stonehenge reminds me of the value of authenticity because of the undisturbed simplistic form that the stones have remained. When I look at this photo I think of how long the patina has been forming on the large stones. I think about how the stones might have gotten their shape. I also think about the wonder had been constructed. This is an authentic space.
This shot of an astronaut in space with the moon as the back drop is the value innovation. Early 1900s the Wright brothers take flight, several decades later their is a man on the moon this shows that there is a desire of exploration. Many of the worlds inventions are a by product of of the space exploration program. Tang, freeze dried food, space pen, among many more are all things that benefitted from the space program. INNOVATION IS DESIGN!

Library as Place
"We have barely began to develop sophisticated framework for the future of the library as a physical space."
This was the main focus of our group presentation. In the rise of technology the traditional library is destined to perish. Libraries as a whole must be innovative in the way that they meet the needs of the users. But a library should not experience a one hundred percent digital overhaul because librarians are what separate the library from a bookstore or coffee shop. with our discoveries we found that the only logical solution was to allow the digital and traditional to work together to create a new type of library space/destination. But also create a space that will be flexible throughout future iterations or interpretations of the design/experience of the space.

Selections, Directions, Connections
The skins assignment was a warning to prepare us for what is to come. To make sure that we are not going to half heartedly through materials on an exquisite design. We were given a few guidelines to choose our materials around, incorporating a material from our precedents or all materials from our precedents. My materials were neutral and unimaginative, but if I was tied to those materials maybe I could make it where the ceiling is composed of the hardwood flooring or the walls were a combination of the brushed aluminum and some other material. Thinking like this gives the designer the chance to make an ordinary palate extraordinary. The cone shape was a “happy” accident that was a result of my original idea, of the materials coming together to make a fan, falling through. So I experimented with the paper and the possible shapes it could make. The cone shape represents the hierarchy in which the materials could be applied. Both of the possible floor materials are at the lowest point of the cone meaning that they would most likely be applied to the floor of the space, where the brushed aluminum and concrete correspond with the wall covering section of the current design. Most of the materials in this preliminary palate are smooth and clean meaning that the carpet doesn’t really fit in with the other three. The concrete and aluminum create a commercial / industrial feel in the design and the hardwood flooring and the carpet seem more of a residential application (although in a commercial setting carpet is typically used).
